Can I rescue dough that did not rise?
The answer
Often yes, if the dough has not been baked yet. Dissolve a fresh portion of yeast in lukewarm water of about 110°F (43°C) with a pinch of sugar, wait 5 to 10 minutes for foam, then knead it thoroughly into the dough and give it another rise in a warm place. This works for dough killed by hot water as well as for dough made with weak yeast. The texture may not be perfect. Allow generous time, because the new yeast has to spread through the whole dough.
